Have You Ever Seen A Bally Professional Arcade?
I have been watching tons of documentaries on retro gaming recently. I heard about this neat home console, The Bally Astrocade, that came out around the same time as the Atari 2600 but isn't as well known. In this video from Jalopnik, we get to see a little bit more about this rad piece of history. I love the fact that it has a little space for storing the cartridges. I love having organized ways to conserve my games. The controller is quite interesting, and I think the combination of joystick and paddle is very innovative.
The Astrocade is known for its powerful graphics capabilities for the time of release. I love the stuff about Datsun 280 ZZZAP. The fact that it was the first game to have an official license from an automotive company and that Jamie Fenton, a trans programmer, worked on it is fantastic. ZORK! You could even program games with this machine. I must say quite impressive in 1978.
I hope you all enjoy this one as much as I did.
